ISASP Schedule at Central

Dear Central Academy students and parents,

Next week DMPS middle and high schools will be giving the required Iowa State Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) to 6th – 11th grade students on Tuesday – Friday, April 8 – 11, during the first 2 hours of each school day.  To accommodate these exams and ensure that we do not miss the same classes every day, we will rotate the schedule over those four days.  A big shout out to the Advanced Mathematical Problem Solving class, under the instruction of Mr. Marcketti, who developed the logistics model for all DMPS high schools and middle schools to make the rotating schedule possible.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE:

The Overview of HIGH SCHOOL ISASP Schedule 2025 shows the bell times for each period each day both at DMPS high schools and at Central.

  • Monday will be a normal dayWe will follow the normal schedule.

Because we are missing the middle periods on Wednesday and Thursday, students’ scheduled travel times will not always line up with when they need to travel. This will cause a few students to miss a class on Wednesday and other students to miss a class on Thursday.  See below:

  • WEDNESDAY:  Students who have period 2 at Central but period 5 at their high school, will miss their period 5 class on Wednesday.  I have notified the attendance clerks at your high schools so the absence will be excused.
  • THURSDAY: Students who normally arrive for a Central class for period 5, 6, or 7 AND leave Central after period 7, will not attend Central on Thursday.  You will only attend period 7 at Central on Thursday if you have period 3 and 7, OR period 7 and 8.  I have already notified the Central Attendance Clerk of the names of those who will be absent from period 7 because of their travel schedule.  Those who only attend Central period 7 and 8, will be late for period 7 on Thursday.  I have notified the Central Attendance clerk of your expected tardiness.

OUT OF DISTRICT STUDENTS:

If you are not taking DMPS ISASP tests, you will still follow this schedule.  If this schedule creates conflict with the schedule at your home school, we will excuse you from your Academy classes.  Please have your parent contact our attendance clerk (515-242-7653 or central.attendance@dmschools.org) or use the attendance tool in Infinite Campus app.  If you need a place to go for those first 2 hours, you’re welcome to arrange a study session with one of your Academy teachers or use one of our lobbies/ student lounge areas to do your own self-study.  Please sign in when you arrive so we know you are here.

Good luck on ISASP tests next week!

Sincerely,

Dr. Gogerty
