2-hour Early Dismissal February 5

Dear Central Academy Students and families,

Because of freezing drizzle forecast for our area, Des Moines Public Schools will be dismissing 2 hours early today, February 5, 2025

Here is how this affects Central Classes:

Central High School students:

• Periods 5 – 8 Cancelled
• We will run normal bell times and bus times for periods 1 – 3.
• All high school students who attend period 3 at Central will load buses at 11:40 after lunch.
• There were no buses routed to arrive at Central at 11:00 (leaving HS at 10:40) since Period 5 at Central is cancelled.

At DMPS home High Schools: 

• Period 6 cut short, ending at 1:15.
• Periods 7 and 8 Cancelled.
• Central students arrive back at HS by 12:00. They ate lunch at Central before leaving. If they do not have a period 5 or 6 at their home high school, they may go home.  Students who ride yellow buses home will catch their bus at 1:15 when classes are dismissed at high schools.

Central Middle School students:

• 8th Grade Academy classes as normal. Students returned to home school at 11:00 for lunch as normal.
• Prep Academy (7th Grade) Cancelled.
• Middle schools dismiss today at 1:25.
