Extreme Weather Early Dismissal 8/24/2023
Dear Central Academy Students and families,
Because of extreme heat tomorrow, Des Moines Public Schools will be dismissing 3 hours early on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
Here is how this affects Central Classes:
At DMPS home High Schools:
- Period 5 cut short, periods 8 Cancelled.
- Central students arrive back at HS by 11:30. They will eat lunch at their home schools.
Central High School students:
- Periods 5 – 8 Cancelled
- We will run normal bell times and bus times for periods 1 – 3.
- All students who attend period 3 at Central will load buses at 11:10 and eat lunch at home schools at approximately 11:30.
Central Middle School students:
- 8th Grade Academy classes as normal. Students return to home school at 11:10 for lunch as normal.
- Prep Academy (7th Grade) Cancelled.
To accommodate all the High School and Middle School buses returning together at 11:10, we will move Lincoln buses to zone 3 (curb in front of Academy) and Callanan, Cowles, Harding, and Merrill to Zone 2 (driveway in front of Academy).
