Due to the success of our Pottery program, we have grown out of our current studio space. Our goal is to raise $500,000 to renovate a currently unused space at our school (1912 Grand Ave.) into a state-of-the-art studio. A crew of throwing students are working together to produce an art show “A R T & SOUL,” displaying Milne’s work and as the works of potters in the program. The art show will open to the public, allowing guests to view Level A and see it’s potential on Saturday, April 15th from 7-9pm at Central Academy, 1912 Grand Ave. Please contact Dara Green at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or Kim Kinney at 515-242-7888 if you would like to make a donation.
More than 80 DMPS student-scientists who qualified at the school district’s science fair in February took their projects to the next level last week in the State Science and Technology Fair at Iowa State University in Ames. Their work went neither unnoticed nor unrewarded. In both the middle school and high school divisions DMPS entrants won top honors in multiple categories. Click Headline for more.
Central Academy sits at a global crossroads. Last week a student delegation returned from a 10-day educational tripo to Germany, Austria, Switzer-land and Lichtenstein. Students annually travel between here and Japan. In October, the Afghanistan Ambassador to the U.S. made a visit. Last fall students continued a longstanding exchange between DMPS and Hjorring, Denmark. This week the favor was returned as DMPS hosted the Danes. Click headline for more.
