8th Grade Chemisty students solving mysteries
Eighth grade students were working on a mystery powders lab in Chemistry last week. They made observations on the chemical behavior after mixing 5 different known powders with different liquids (iodine solution, vinegar, and water). Then they get an unknown powder. The object was to identify the powders in the unknown– there was more than one! If they had excellent lab technique the could identify the 2-3 powders that were in their unknown. Now they are writing their lab reports explaining their lab process, data, and conclusions.
