The Fermilab – more formally known as the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory – is a place of complex research and deep thoughts. Eleven students in the Independent Study Creative Writing program at Central Academy received regional recognition in the 2013 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Five of the student-writers earned the Gold Key, the top honor in the competition.

Over the past few years, enrollment in AP courses has increased by as much as 900% at some DMPS schools, the number of AP exams taken has doubled, and for the first time ever all five DMPS high schools are ranked on the Iowa AP Index.
