Martinez Earns Harkin’s Recommendation for US Naval Academy

Senior Luis Martinez has earned the distinction of being recommended to the prestigious US Naval Academy by US Senator, Tom Harkin.  He’s cleared the first big hurdle to earning a place at the elite school in Annapolis, but “now I have to do my application,” says Martinez.  Last spring Martinez had to complete a preliminary application and then apply to be nominated by a US senator.  Having obtained the nomination, he must do an admissions test and submit his final application before being considered a candidate for admission. The next few months will be very full for Martinez as he completes his final assessments as an IB Diploma Candidate as well completing his application,  fitness assessment and interviews with the US Naval Academy.   Martinez is currently taking Higher Level IB Physics, IB 20th Century History and IB English as well as Standard Level Mathematics, Spanish and Theory of Knowledge in addition to Advanced Placement Calculus BC, Linear Algebra & Differential Equations and JROTC.  Congratulations to Luis and Good Luck!
